Day 7 - Friday 1st February

FOG! ... well, mist. There was low cloud till nearly lunch, but gradually it cleared just in time and we had lunch in the sunshine, and a cat joined us to eat some of Tony and Coops' dinner.

We had a Black run afternoon for myself, Jon, Tony and Andrew. Jon managed to leave his mark on one with his nose. About 50 yards head first down a mogul field.

The evening before dinner was spent packing.

Food - spicy soup, well, pizza tomato puree...then Duck, followed by tarte tatin (well actually apple pie and custard!). Finally a little cheese was freely available. Obviously the left overs from the cheese platters they were charging extra for during the week!

Finished the evening with cards, and I can report I beat Coops at his own game three times on the trot!

It is difficult to take pictures in a whiteout, but luckily it cleared in time for lunch and we were able to sit outside to eat. Jon and Tony awaiting their food ... ... while Coops, Lucy and Graham tuck into theirs. There was soon a disturbance under the table ...
... which Coops and Tony became interested in (although this photo maybe lends itself to a caption competition? Post ideas on the Forum) ... ... which turned out to be a hungry cat ...
... so of course, they fed it some dinner... ... and of course eventually we made our way home, via the vin chaud stop, to tea and cake, then packing ...

Finally, once more, the photo of the group to remind you who everyone is:

Top row - standing: Keith, Chris (yours truly!), Tony, Farmer 1, Andy, Ian

Bottom row - sitting: Graham (Leicester group organiser), Lucy (Wilson), Jon, Coops, Andrew (Wilson), Steve

Day 8 - Saturday 2nd February - Return home

Overnight we had nearly 4 inches of snow so the bus was a little late picking us up (at 3:30am!!). We did a rather slow circuit of the resort, with a drive past our hotel for a second time (and half an hour later!) due I think to the resort Rep being a little confused by the new snow and the one way system!

It was a slippery and eventful, as well as slow, descent of the mountain, there was a long wait at a town at the bottom of the valley for more passengers from another resort, but finally we set off for Grenoble airport.

We arrived, checked in our baggage, had a loo stop, went through security, and then straight to boarding. All seemingly in one fluid motion! We even took off on time. Ladies Night, here we come!

All this was more than can be said for the Bournemouth crew on their coach only (supposedly) 5 or 10 minutes behind us. A jack-knifed coach blocked the resort road for about three hours and they were going to miss their flight. Helpful Crystal Reps were referring passengers to sort their own way home and mentioned their travel insurance. Helpful.... NOT!

Apparently in the end their plane was held for them and they presumably made it back on the original plane, if a few hours later than expected.
